A Catalan Songwriter-Producer in London Turns a Single-Authored Book Into an Indie Folk Chorus

The most important decision on Out Loud Thoughts is what she left out. Victòria Vilalta wrote, sang and produced the single. She kept the arrangement to piano, guitar and bass, so the voice sits in front with room around it. The 2:48 song came out on August 1, 2025. It is about the things we cannot control, and it later gave its name to her debut album.

Victòria Vilalta’s Out Loud Thoughts sits in the playlist below. Her full run of coverage is on her artist profile. Out Loud Thoughts came to this desk through PopHits.Co Music Charts, which verifies independent artists and places their releases across its network of music news titles. Listen to the voice first, then read on for the choices around it.

The Hook of Out Loud Thoughts Comes From a Producer Who Trained on Piano and Psychology

Vilalta’s route to the producer’s chair explains the restraint. Growing up in Olot, a small city in Catalonia, she started classical piano lessons at six. At 12 she joined a choir. She then taught herself guitar and posted her first cover to YouTube at 16. In an interview with RGM, she described studying psychology in Barcelona, then a master’s in cognition and behaviour. After that came London and a master’s in Creative Music Production.

She also self-produced her first EP in 2022. By the time of this single, the studio was already her instrument. The same interview set out how she approaches a recording. She wants processing that adds a touch of fantasy, while the vocal stays raw and natural. On Out Loud Thoughts the balance tips toward the natural side.

The music site Music Earshot heard a lightly sorrowful ballad driven by piano, guitar and bass. It described the bare arrangement as a conscious choice. That is the microphone decision at the centre of the record. With so little around it, every breath and phrase of the lead vocal is part of the take.

What the Lyric Says Out Loud

The words begin with a small, honest admission. Someone has called her wise, and she says she prefers that to intelligent. She wants to be happy rather than feel old. Then comes a shrug of acceptance, followed by the image of tripping and falling again.

The chorus carries the central idea. If life were a single-authored book, it would be easy to write and easy to read. You may not like a chapter, but you can live strongly enough to write the next one. It is a warm image, and it reframes the theme of things we cannot control as a question of authorship.

The second verse turns outward. She speaks the thoughts aloud because she will no longer keep them inside. The lyric also names harm done by someone else, and refuses to stay silent about it. She did not trip alone, she sings, and standing up again was hard. Consequently, the song moves from self-reflection to accountability without raising its voice.

Out Loud Thoughts Folds Verse, Chorus and a Turn Into Under Three Minutes of Indie Folk

The structure is compact. Two verses, each closing on the same plain refrain, frame a chorus that arrives twice. The second verse carries the turn from inward to outward. At 2:48, nothing outstays the idea.

That economy suits her stated approach. In the RGM interview, Vilalta said her songwriting tends to speak directly, aiming at universal emotions. Newer songs, she added, also carry values and social critique. Her interest in psychology also runs through the subjects she chooses: self-reflection and mental health.

Who Out Loud Thoughts Is For

The closest reference is Phoebe Bridgers, whose records showed how far a plain-spoken lyric can travel over a sparse arrangement. Maggie Rogers is the other useful comparison. She began by producing her own folk recordings and treated the studio as part of the writing. Vilalta works the same way, in English and in Catalan.

The single suits listeners who want evocative alt-folk, alternative pop and indie folk with a distinctive voice. It also suits anyone who reads lyrics closely, because the chapter image rewards a second listen. On this desk, it fits the acoustic, soft and chamber folk mix of the playlist above.

Out Loud Thoughts sits in a busy year. Mumbling opened her 2025 releases in February. The Catalan singles Va marxar un dilluns and Pols followed, then this song in August and Coldness in September. The debut album of the same name arrived on November 14, 2025. Vilalta wrote it and produced most of it in London, with other musicians adding depth to the arrangements.

From the AcousticMusic.News curator team: “Victòria Vilalta wrote, sang and produced Out Loud Thoughts. Every choice points toward the words. Keeping it to piano, guitar and bass gives the single-authored-book chorus room to land. The second verse’s turn toward accountability arrives without a raised voice.”
